Welcome to The Pontardawe Arts Centre

So much to see and do...
Notice/Hysbysiad:

Annwyl pawb,

We’ve so much to say, yet things are still very quiet in the Arts industry & with the Arts Centre right now, but after countless weekly online team meetings, our plans for the rest of the year are starting to come together.

Most of the Arts Centre Team continue to be redeployed after lock-down but we still have a focus on the needs of the venue. However, with four of our staff members on the Test, Trace, Protect teams; one seconded to the Council’s corporate communications team; and another who was working with our colleagues in Margam County Park, it’s not always been easy to find time to move forward as a team.

Having said that, we’ve done our best to keep in touch and meet regularly online to catch up on new developments and continue to share creative ideas.

Unfortunately, personal issues for some of us have come at a time when things are equally tough for us all, which, in addition to the summer break, has caused a delay to our weekly marketing updates; and we can only apologise for that. Regardless, we feel this is an opportune time to relaunch how we’d like to reach out to our patrons, supporters and customers.

Although lock-down has long since finished, we understand the cautious response from many that another wave may soon be around the corner. Having said that, there is a certain expectation from the public, and from all of us here at the Arts Centre, that things have to get moving again.

We’ve been hearing from many of you about the hope and desire to re-open the building for classes, films and socially distanced events. As much as we’d like to give you a definitive date for a re-opening, due to the inconsistent nature and the rapidly changing situation surrounding Covid-19, this is unfortunately impossible for us to do so.

What we can do however, is inform you of the phased plan which has been set in place by Neath Port Talbot Council to re-open the building to the general public:

PHASE ONE
Repopulate Pontardawe Arts Centre with skeleton staff – those not redeployed and considered vital to maintenance of building, H & S and managing admin and continuity of service
Service delivery to continue in this period – weekly email and social media communication – managing the changing program as events are transferred with accompanying ticket refunds
Building adaptation to support staff safety on reopening to commence – eg screens, PPE, ticketless options, cash free sales

PHASE TWO
Adhering to Government advice reopen for participatory classes –not general public (supporting our practitioner’s businesses)– Advising practitioners on safe practice and full maintenance of recommended distancing advice

PHASE THREE
Reopen Arts Centre with advice from Government for classes, gallery and film with social distancing measures
Amend opening hours as necessary
PHASE FOUR
Reopen the Arts Centre for live events –with adherence to Government advice

As we begin this phased plan we would like to reiterate a few things with you in regards to the Autumn schedule:

Firstly, it has become quite clear that any live events will not be possible this side of Christmas. We are busy working behind the scenes rescheduling events and contacting ticket holders of the situation. Moving forward it may be the case that events will be cancelled outright with full refunds provided to all ticket holders, ensuring that rescheduled shows can be set up from scratch to have effective socially distancing in place, and provide you with the confidence that health and safety guidelines are being followed if you choose to re-purchase tickets with us.

Secondly, we’ve had many queries regarding the Cinderella Pantomime due in December, and whether it will go ahead in a reduced capacity before or after Christmas. As of this moment we are liaising with the organisers and hoping for a definitive answer for you all by October.

We are planning to establish limited box office hours again for any queries and liaising you may have. We hope to have more details regarding opening hours for you in next week’s email.

Meirion, our Operations Manager, has been busy undertaking risk assessments, meeting with our Health and Safety Officer to ensure that safe working practice will be complied with and appropriate social distancing and hygiene measures are in place for when our doors finally reopen. In addition, the team at the venue will be available to manage a safe return and give advice, but many of our practitioners have also taken Covid-19 courses to ensure that they are equally prepared for maintaining good practice.

In the meantime, in our relaunch of our Weekly Marketing email we’ve changed a few things so as to better serve and inform our subscribers of relevant upcoming community events, projects and ideas. You may find upcoming emails a bit more lean than before, but for good reason as we focus on what we believe you would like to know.

Over the upcoming weeks and months we hope to share some of these ideas and projects with you once they are confirmed. For now, please scroll down below to see some of the initial project events we have planned.

For now, some news that you may find exciting is that the Environment Directorate have been working with the Arts Council of Wales on the planned new cinema build, appointing the Bristol based architectural firm, Childs Sulzmann  (www.cs-architects.co.uk)  to develop the design brief with work scheduled to begin in 2021.

All that’s left to say is we have been overwhelmed by the kind words people have shared with us about the venue, and how keen they are to know when we will reopen. We can only hope that you’re all well and say that we miss our audiences, class teachers, members and the big arts centre family we’re all part of.

Mae gyda ni gymaint i’w ddweud, er bod pethau’n dal i fod yn dawel iawn ar hyn o bryd yn niwydiant y Celfyddydau ac yng Nghanolfan y Celfyddydau. Serch hynny, ar ôl cyfarfodydd tîm wythnosol di-rif ar-lein mae ein cynlluniau ar gyfer gweithgareddau gweddill y flwyddyn yn dechrau toddi’n un.

Mae’r rhan fwyaf o aelodau Tîm Canolfan y Celfyddydau yn dal i gael eu hadleoli, ond rydym yn dal i ganolbwyntio ar anghenion y safle. Ond gan fod pedwar aelod o’n staff yn gweithio ar y timau Profi, Ôl-rhain, Diogelu; un wedi’i secondio i dîm cyfathrebiad corfforaethol y Cyngor; ac un yn gweithredu gyda’n cydweithwyr ni ym Mharc Gwledig Margam, ’dyw hi ddim wedi bod yn hawdd inni gael amser i symud ymlaen fel tîm.

Ond chwarae teg, dyn ni wedi gwneud ein gorau glas i gadw mewn cysylltiad a chwrdd ar-lein yn rheolaidd er mwyn dal yn gyfwastad â datblygiadau newydd a pharhau i rannu syniadau creadigol.

Yn anffodus, mae problemau personol wedi codi i rai ohonom ar adeg pan mae pethau’n eithaf anodd inni i gyd. Mae hyn, ar ben seibiant yr haf, wedi peri oediad yn ein negeseuon marchnata wythnosol a hoffen ni ymddiheuro am hynny. Ond teimlwn er gwaethaf popeth taw dyma’r amser delfrydol inni ymdrechu eto i ymestyn allan tuag at ein noddwyr, ein cefnogwyr a’n cwsmeriaid.

Er i’r cyfnod clo ddod i ben, dyn ni’n deall ymateb gochelgar llawer o bobl rhag ofn y gwelir ail don yn ymddangos yn y man. Ond wedi dweud hynny, mae’r cyhoedd yn disgwyl, fel ninnau yma yng Nghanolfan y Celfyddydau, i bethau ddechrau symud drachefn.

Rydym wedi clywed dymuniad a gobeithion llawer ohonoch y bydd yr adeilad yn ail-agor ar gyfer dosbarthiadau, ffilmiau a digwyddiadau lle gall pobl gadw pellter cymdeithasol. Yn anffodus, er mor awyddus ydyn ni i ddatgan dyddiad ail-agor pendant, mae’n amhosibl inni wneud hyn oherwydd natur anghyson y sefyllfa gyflym newidiol ynghylch Cofid-19.

Ond gallwn ni eich hysbysu am y cynllun sydd gan Gyngor Castell Nedd Port Talbot i ail-agor yr adeilad fesul cam i’r cyhoedd:

CAM UN
Ail-lenwi Canolfan Celfyddydau Pontardawe â staff sgerbwd – sef y rhai nad ydynt wedi cael eu hadleoli ac a ystyrir yn hanfodol bwysig o safbwynt gwaith cynnal a chadw, Iechyd a Diogelwch, gweinyddiaeth a pharhad gwasanaethau.
Parheir i ddarparu gwasanaethau yn ystod y cyfnod hwn – ebyst wythnosol a chyfathrebu ar gyfryngau cymdeithasol – rheoli’r rhaglen newidiol wrth i ddigwyddiadau gael eu trosglwyddo, a delio â gweithgareddau ad-dalu prisiau tocynnau
Dechrau gwaith ar addasu’r adeilad i hyrwyddo diogelwch y staff ar ôl inni ail-agor – e.e. sgriniau, cyfarpar diogelu personél, opsiynau di-docyn, gwerthiannau heb drosglwyddo arian parod

CAM DAU
Ail-agor ar gyfer dosbarthiadau cyfranogol gan gadw at gyngor y llywodraeth – nid y cyhoedd cyffredinol (gan hyrwyddo busnesau ein hymarferwyr) – Cynghori ymarferwyr ynghylch arferion diogel a dal yn llawn at y cyngor ynghylch cadw pellter

CAM TRI
Ail-agor Canolfan y Celfyddydau gan gadw at gyngor y llywodraeth ynghylch dosbarthiadau, yr oriel a dangos ffilmiau a chadw pellter cymdeithasol
Addasu’r oriau agor yn ôl yr angen
CAM PEDWAR
Ail-agor Canolfan y Celfyddydau ar gyfer digwyddiadau byw –gan gadw at gyngor y llywodraeth

Wrth inni gychwyn ar y cynllun fesul cam hwn hoffem ail-adrodd nifer o bwyntiau yng nghyswllt amserlen yr Hydref:

Yn gyntaf, mae hi wedi dod yn amlwg nad oes modd inni gynnal digwyddiadau byw cyn y Nadolig. Rydym wrthi’n gweithio y tu ôl i’r llenni’n ail-amseru digwyddiadau ac yn hysbysu deiliaid tocynnau am y sefyllfa. Mae’n bosibl wrth inni symud ymlaen y bydd rhaid canslo rhai digwyddiadau’n gyfangwbl gan ad-dalu’n llwyr i bob deiliad tocyn; sicrhau bod ymbellhau cymdeithasol effeithiol yn digwydd mewn unrhyw sioeau sy’n cael eu hail-amseru, a’ch gadael chi’n teimlo’n hyderus ein bod yn glynu wrth y canllawiau ynghylch iechyd a diogelwch os dewiswch chi ail-brynu tocynnau gennym.

Yn ail, rydym wedi derbyn llu o ymholiadau ynghylch pantomeim Cinderella ym mis Rhagfyr, ac a fydd yn mynd yn ei flaen neu beidio ar raddfa lai cyn neu ar ôl y Nadolig. Rydym yn trafod y sefyllfa ar hyn o bryd gyda’r trefnwyr, gan obeithio gallu rhoi ateb terfynol ichi erbyn mis Hydref.

Dyn ni’n bwriadu sefydlu oriau agor cyfyngedig yn y swyddfa docynnau ar gyfer eich ymholiadau ac unrhyw fusnes arall sydd gyda chi. Gobeithio y bydd rhagor o fanylion gyda ni i’w cynnig ynghylch oriau agor yn ebost yr wythnos nesaf.

Mae Meirion, ein Rheolwr Gweithrediadau, wedi bod wrthi’n brysur yn cynnal asesiadau o risg, ac yn cwrdd â’n Swyddog Iechyd a Diogelwch i sicrhau ein bod yn cadw at arferion gweithio diogel ac y bydd mesurau ymbellhau cymdeithasol a hylendid mewn grym erbyn inni ail-agor o’r diwedd. Ar ben hyn, bydd tîm yr adeilad ar gael i weinyddu dychweliad diogel inni i gyd a chynnig cyngor, ond mae llawer o’n hymarferwyr ni wedi cymryd cyrsiau Cofid-19 hefyd i sicrhau eu bod yn barod i gadw at arferion da.

Yn y cyfamser, wrth ail-lansio ein hebost Marchnata wythnosol rydym wedi newid nifer o bethau er mwyn hysbysu ein tanysgrifwyr yn well am ddigwyddiadau cymunedol perthnasol sydd ar y gweill, ynghyd â phrosiectau a syniadau. Fe gewch chi efallai fod ebyst yn deneuach eu cynnwys o hyn ymlaen nag o’r blaen, ond y rheswm yw ein bod ni am ganolbwyntio ar y pethau hynny y carech chi eu gwybod yn ein tyb ni.

Dros yr wythnosau a’r misoedd nesaf hyn dyn ni’n gobeithio rhannu rhai o’r syniadau a’r prosiectau hyn â chi, unwaith y cân nhw eu cadarnhau. Yn y cyfamser, sgroliwch i lawr i weld rhai o’r digwyddiadau sydd ar y gweill gyda ni.

Un newydd eithaf cyffrous yw bod y Gyfarwyddiaeth Amgylcheddol wedi bod yn gweithio gyda Chyngor Celfyddydau Cymru ar y cynllun i adeiladu’r sinema newydd; bwriedir penodi’r cwmni pensaernïol Childs Sulzmann  (www.cs-architects.co.uk)  ym Mryste i ddatblygu brîff dylunio, gyda’r nod o ddechrau’r gwaith yn 2021.

Y cwbl sydd ar ôl gyda ni i’w ddweud yw ein bod ni ar ben ein digon wrth glywed a darllen geiriau caredig pobl ynghylch y Ganolfan, ac wrth ddysgu mor awyddus ydyn nhw i wybod pryd byddwn yn ei hail-agor. Fe ffarweliwn â chi am y tro gan obeithio eich bod chi i gyd yn cadw’n iach a datgan ein bod yn hiraethu am weld unwaith eto ein cynulleidfaoedd, y dysgwyr dosbarth, yr aelodau a phawb yn nheulu mawr Canolfan y Celfyddyau yr ydym i gyd yn rhan ohono.
