Photographer Richard Billingham’s debut film set in

Thatcher-era Britain in the squalid council – at outside

Birmingham where he and his brother were raised by his

parents Ray and Liz. Expanding on his 1996 collection of

photographs (Ray’s a Laugh) giving insight into the grim,

sometime funny episodes of a fragmented family life.
