Folk night fundraiser with great bands!

The Eclectics is a group of friends who love to sing together. They are called the Eclectics because they have such a wide

repertoire. From songs from Africa and Finland to Beatles hits and a song by Henry VIII – they will always surprise you.

Singing a cappella, the Eclectics will entertain you with music from Gershwin to a medieval drinking song, from Cole Porter to sea shanties and Leonard Cohen. Something for everyone!

They have performed in churches, church halls, community centres, residential homes, shopping centres, schools, pubs and clubs. As they perform without amplification, however, their favourite venues are those with good acoustics and a listening audience.

The Jackdawgs & Friends- “Howlin’ , good-time music!”

Three keen amateur musicians who have come together through the Gower Bluegrass ‘Picking Sessions’.

John Williams—Guitar, Mandolin & Vocals.

He’s the trio’s Hon. Psychologist (A great professional bonus for any band!)

Roland Emmanuel—Guitar, Mandolin, Tenor Banjo & Vocals.

Former member of ‘Roots & Galoots’, ‘The Grass Snakes’, ‘Mardi Jug Band’. (Founder of the annual Gower Bluegrass Festival & Picking Sessions’.)

Mike Shefford—Guitar, Mandolin & Vocals.

The canine connection, an expert in dog training and former National Champion. (His influence has a bearing on the band name!)

The trio are often joined by Terry Ryan on Bass.

They play an array of acoustic instruments through a variety genres. These include Bluegrass, Folk, Americana and a variety of contemporary songs.  Overall the Jack Dawgs emphasis is on Versatility, Harmony and having a Good Time playing the music!

Caradog & Aneirin Jones

Aneirin Jones isn’t just fast-becoming a critically acclaimed traditional fiddler – he is, more importantly, a Ponty local! Part of the award winning trio VRï, folk supergroup Pendevig and amplified NoGood Boyo, he has already represented Welsh folk music in it’s various styles on the international stage. His older sibling Caradog Jones is a traditional harpist, who most enjoys busking on the streets, singing in sessions or performing for a local noson lawen. Caradog also plays for the yet-to-be acclaimed band y Daplas who have represented Welsh folk music in various rugby clubs. Together they form a lively duo, full of passion for our traditional tunes and songs.

Mae Aneirin Jones yn ffidlwr sy’n gyflym ennyn clod y genedl – ac yn bwysicach, mae’n frodor o Bonty! Yn aelod o driawd gwobrwyedig VRï, arch-fand gwerin Pendevig a’r ampiedig NoGood Boyo, mae’r cerddor ifanc wedi cynrychioli cerddoriaeth werin Gymreig ar y llwyfan rhyngwladol. Mi fydd y telynor traddodiadol Caradog Jones yn ymuno a’i frawd bach Aneirin. Yn hoff o glera ar y stryd, canu yn sesiynau a pherfformio i nosweithie llawen lleol, mae Caradog hefyd yn ware i’r band y Daplas sydd wedi cynrychioli cerddoriaeth werin Gymreig yn amryw glwb rygbi. Gyda’i gilydd maent yn ffurfio deuawd bywiog, llawn angerdd dros ein halawon a chaneuon traddodiadol.
