CYNHYRCHIAD GWOBRWYEDIG ‘GRAV’ YN DYCHWELYD AR GYFER 2020

Ym mis Hydref 2007 bu Ray Gravell, dyn a oedd i lawer wedi ymgorffori beth ydyw i fod yn Gymro, farw ar ôl ildio i gymhlethdodau sy’n deillio o glefyd y siwgr. Roedd yn 56 mlwydd oed.

Yn adnabyddus i filiynau am ei gampau chwedlonol ar y cae rygbi, roedd ‘Grav’ yn gymaint yn fwy na hynny. Yn actor, eicon diwylliannol, tad, gŵr, dyn â bywyd yn llawn storiau sy’n haeddu cael eu clywed unwaith yn rhagor.

Gareth J Bale fydd yn ailadrodd rôl ‘Grav’ yn y sioe hynod un-dyn yma gan archwilio bywyd ac amserau un o feibion mwyaf cariadus Cymru, Ray Gravell, ysgrifennwyd gan Owen Thomas.

Gyda bendith Mari, gweddw Ray, a chyfraniadau gan ei ffrindiau tîm Llewod Cymreig a Phrydeinig, bydd y sioe un dyn hon yn archwilio bywyd dyn a oedd yr un mor ddiddorol i ffwrdd o’r cae rygbi fel yr oedd arno.

Yn dilyn taith anhygoel o amgylch Cymru ac UDA yn 2018, gan gynnwys perfformiadau yn Efrog Newydd a Washington DC, a pherfformiad ysbrydoledig y Gamp Lawn o flaen Sgwad WRU yn 2019, mae Cwmni Theatr y Torch yn falch iawn o ddod â stori ‘Grav’ i’r llwyfan ar gyfer 2020 unwaith eto.

Wedi ei chyfarwyddo gan Ioan Hefin (yn seiliedig ar y cynhyrchiad gwreiddiol Saesneg gan Peter Doran), bydd ‘Grav’ yn eich atgoffa unwaith yn rhagor o fywyd unigryw wedi ei fyw’n dda.

P’un a ydych chi’n gefnogwr Rygbi ai peidio, dim ond y calonnau caletaf fyddai’n methu â mwynhau y cynhyrchiad hwn …

“Roedd y ddrama… yn bwerus. Roedd wir yn dangos balchder yr oedd gan Grav, ac sydd gennym oll, yng Nghymru.” – George North

“Os gallwn ni efelychu â pherfformiad Gareth Bale ddydd Sadwrn, dim ond un canlyniad fydd yna,”- Robin McBryde, 2019.

“yn blesiwr torf di-gywilydd, yn gwthio botymau gwladgarol y gynulleidfa gan gadw tôn hynaws drwyddi draw … gyda pherfformiad canolog a fydd yn ennyn diddordeb y rheiny nad ydynt yn gefnogwyr hyd yn oed, mae hwn yn adloniant cadarn a swynol. “British Theatre Guide

THE AWARD-WINNING PRODUCTION ‘GRAV’ RETURNS FOR 2020

In October 2007 Ray Gravell, a man who for many embodied what it is to be Welsh, passed away after succumbing to complications resulting from contracting diabetes. He was 56 years old.

Known to millions for his legendary exploits on the rugby field, ‘Grav’ was and is so much more than that. An actor, a cultural icon, a father, a husband, a man with a life packed full of stories that deserve to be heard once more.

Gareth J Bale reprises the role of ‘Grav’ in this remarkable one-man show exploring the life and times of one of Wales’ most loved sons, Ray Gravell, written by Owen Thomas.

With the blessing of Mari, Ray’s widow, and contributions from his Welsh and British Lions team mates, this one-man show will explore the life of a man who was as fascinating away from the rugby field as he was on it.

Following an incredible tour of Wales and the USA in 2018, including performances in New York and Washington DC, and a Grand Slam inspiring performance in front of the WRU Squad in 2019, the Torch Theatre Company is delighted to once again bring the story of ‘Grav’ to the stage for 2020.

Directed by Ioan Hefin (based on the original English language production by Peter Doran), ‘Grav’ will remind the you once more of a unique life well lived and of a man who did so much more than eat soft centres.

Whether you are a Rugby fan or not, only the hardest of hearts would fail to enjoy this production…

“The play… was powerful. It definitely showed the pride that Grav had, and we all have, in Wales.” – George North

“If we can in any way match Gareth Bale’s performance on Saturday there’ll only be one result,” – Robin McBryde, 2019.

“an unashamed crowd-pleaser, pushing the audience’s patriotic buttons whilst retaining a genial tone throughout… with a central performance which will engage even non-rugby fans, this is robust and charming entertainment.” British Theatre Guide
