The true story of an unlikely alliance and show of solidarity during the turbulent miner’s strike.

To mark the 30 year anniversary of the Miners Strike the film Pride will be on the big screen, only at the Pontardawe Arts Centre.

Inspired by an extraordinary true story. In the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers’ families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales (Onllwyn) and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all.

I ddathlu pen-blwydd y glowyr yn 30 oed, bydd y ffilm Pride ar y sgrîn fawr, yng Nghanolfan Gelfyddydau Pontardawe yn unig.

Hysbrydoli gan stori wir ryfeddol. Yn ystod haf 1984, mae Margaret Thatcher mewn grym ac mae Undeb Cenedlaethol y glowyr ar streic, gan annog grŵp o weithwyr hoyw a lesbiaid o Lundain i godi arian i gefnogi teuluoedd y streicwyr. Ar y dechrau, mae’r grŵp yn ail-greu pentref glofaol bach yng Nghymru (Onllwyn) ac mae’n cychwyn i wneud eu rhodd yn bersonol. Wrth i’r streic lusgo ymlaen, mae’r ddau grŵp yn darganfod bod sefyll gyda’n gilydd yn gwneud i’r Undeb cryfaf oll.
