Friends Of Pontardawe Arts Centre Logo – Designed by Jessica Gore, Cwmtawe Community School

It’s been just over a year since the frinds of Pontardawe Arts Centre launched, and The Friends of Pontardawe Arts Centre has taken off and is flying high!  The launch night on Thursday 25th January 2018 attracted a whopping 330 members of the public. Grant Duncan (Chairman of the Friends) introduced speeches from Jeremy Miles AM and our very own Area Artistic Manager Angie Dickinson.  Entertainment was provided by members of Future Blood, the music development project from the Arts Centre.  The evening concluded with a magnificent burst of song from 80 members of Class Act Theatre School with extracts from their forthcoming show Whistle Down the Wind (tickets available from here and the Box Office). If you would like to become a member just click on the link below to download a form.   Alternatively you can come down the Arts Centre and pick a form up and fill it in!  Annual membership is just £6 but will raise to £10 in 2019 and this contributes to keeping your Arts Centre the vibrant community hub of Pontardawe. The Friends of Pontardawe Arts Centre is in the process of being constituted as a charity and this will enable fund raising, accessing grant aid and generating ideas for raising income. A Friends Association will help promote the centre and its programme of events, including lobbying for support when needed. We welcome support and feedback from anyone interested in the sustainability of Pontardawe Arts Centre.  In particular the Friends are looking for the following expertise within the committee – marketing, social media, data-protection, finance and business planning.  If you would like to volunteer for these roles we would welcome hearing from you on pacfriends1@gmail.com. We already have some lovely video testimonies but we are keen to hear your stories of ‘Why Pontardawe Arts Centre is important to you’.  If you would like to add your voice please send a clip to a.dickinson@npt.gov.uk
